A Helpful List in Your Time of Need
We understand when a loved one passes, your grief is often first and foremost. It is easy to forget all of the items that need to be taken care of in the immediate time after their passing. Below is a helpful list to keep you going.
We’re With You Every Step of The Way
Flowers? Charity?
If there are to be no flowers, designate a charity which gifts can go to in lieu of flowers, i.e. church, school, or an organization.
Minors?
Arrange for childcare if needed for minors.
Calls & Visitors
Have friends or relatives take turns answering phone calls and greeting visitors. Be careful to keep a phone log of calls.
Hospitality Arrangements
Make hospitality arrangements for relatives and plan the appropriate food provisions for the duration of their visit.
House Sitter
Remember to have a house sitter during services and other remembrances away from the home or homes.
Additional Help
Delegate household chores and upkeep that could be done by friends.
After the Funeral - Flowers
Decide flower disposition after funeral is over, i.e. church, school, hospitals or convalescent homes.
Responsibilities
Keep a list of persons to receive acknowledgements.
Check on who will be responsible to notify the newspapers of the obituary.
Notify Social Security if loved one received monthly benefits.
Don't be Duped!
Do not be duped into settling for the exorbitant funeral home prices for a casket. The same ones are available at Amazon or Costco on-line at a fraction of the cost. Often times, families are taken advantage of by some funeral homes at their time of bereavement.
